What are the important parameters of ceramic antenna?

1. VSWR voltage standing wave ratio

The VSWR is less than 2.0, and the VSWR at the working frequency point is less than 1.5. If the VSWR is too large, the communication distance will be shortened, and the reflected power will return to the power amplifier part of the transmitter, which is easy to burn the power amplifier tube and affect the normal operation of the communication system.

2. Bandwidth

Generally, the electrical parameters of ceramic antenna are related to the working frequency. To ensure the allowable frequency variation range of electrical parameters is the working bandwidth of ceramic antenna. Generally, the working bandwidth of omnidirectional ceramic antenna can reach 5-8% of the working frequency range, and that of directional ceramic antenna can reach 3-10% of the working frequency range.

3. Gain

Gain is one of the main indexes of ceramic antenna. It is the product of direction coefficient and efficiency, and it is the performance of the size of the wave radiated or received by the ceramic antenna. The choice of gain depends on the requirements of the system design for the coverage area of the wave. In short, under the same conditions, the higher the gain, the farther the distance of the wave propagation.
4. Noise figure

The larger the coefficient is, the larger the noise will be, which indicates that the more noise will be added in the transmission process, reflecting the unsatisfactory characteristics of the device or channel. When the noise figure of the amplifier is low, the noise figure of the amplifier is usually expressed by the noise temperature (T).

Ceramic antenna is another kind of miniaturized antenna suitable for Bluetooth devices. The types of ceramic antenna are divided into block ceramic antenna and multilayer ceramic antenna. Block antenna uses high temperature to sinter the whole ceramic body at one time, and then prints the metal part of the antenna on the surface of the ceramic block.

The multilayer antenna is fired in the way of low temperature co firing. The multilayer ceramic is laminated and aligned, and then sintered at high temperature. Therefore, the metal conductor of the antenna can be printed on each layer of ceramic dielectric layer according to the design requirements. Ceramic antenna is made of ceramic and weighs only 200g. Its frequency range is between 902mhz and 928mhz. Moreover, the dielectric loss of ceramic is smaller than that of PCB, so it is very suitable for Bluetooth module with low power consumption.
